Norled has secured a contract with the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries’ Maritime Service for a specially designed express boat with a hybrid propulsion system that will ensure a reduced environmental footprint. The vessel can run on battery power or a combination of diesel and electric power.
The vessel will be equipped with a four-engine propulsion system with an exhaust gas cleaning system that meets the highest emission requirements.
“We are incredibly pleased to win with our concept that focuses on the environment, quality and price. This is the first time Norled has designed and operated a vessel for the Directorate of Fisheries, but the vessel has parallels to our many express boats that also have hybrid solutions,” says CEO of Norled, Heidi Wolden.
The special vessel will be used to monitor fishing, clean up lost fishing gear and collect coastal data. The vessel comes with a large cargo deck with lifting cranes and will also have a laboratory on board. The length of the vessel is 39 meters and the top speed is approximately 33 knots. The special vessel will be built by Oma Baatbyggeri, but owned and operated by Norled. It will be operational throughout the year. The delivery date will be the first quarter of 2022.
The contract is valid for 10 years including options.
