The award highlights Norled’s pioneering role in green maritime innovation that inspires others to adopt sustainable solutions in shipping. Each year, Agenda Vestlandet and Maritime CleanTech honor a forward-thinking green maritime company.

Cutting emissions through innovation

Norled is recognized for its pioneering achievements, including the world’s first all-electric car ferry (MF ‘Ampere’), electric express boats and the world’s first hydrogen-powered ferry (MF ‘Hydra). Also soon to be launched is the SHIFTR system, a pioneering battery swap solution to be used on express boats in the Oslofjord. These developments underline their continuous pursuit of zero-emission solutions.

Ada Jakobsen, CEO of Maritime CleanTech, praises Norled’s influence in the maritime industry:

  • Norled is a force that is transforming the maritime sector. By demonstrating the possibilities of green technologies such as electrification and hydrogen, they show that bold ideas, combined with expert execution, can drive real change. Their commitment to collaboration and innovation is inspiring and leading the way for the entire industry towards a zero-emission future.

Norled’s work extends beyond technological innovation. Through close collaboration with suppliers, they have built new and green maritime value chains, and promoted market adoption of new solutions. Vice President Shipping at Sparebanken Vest, Marita Bjørke Hollekve, remarks:

  • Norled shows how new technologies open up market opportunities for the entire maritime sector. Their influence goes beyond innovation; they share knowledge and promote the predictability and framework needed to achieve a sustainable future at sea.

A proud and ambitious winner

Reflecting on the recognition, Norled CEO Heidi Wolden expresses her gratitude:

  • This award strengthens our determination to deliver low and zero emission solutions and proves that collaboration and innovation are the keys to a zero emission future. On behalf of Norled, I would like to thank the jury and our many partners in Maritime CleanTech for their collaboration and support. Together we are creating real change and paving the way for a cleaner maritime industry.

Norled now joins the ranks of previous winners of the award: Corvus Energy, Wilhelmsen, Østensjø, LMG Marin and SEAM.

The award, supported by Agenda Vestlandet and based on nominations from companies in the industry, honors companies that drive green transition in practice. This year’s recognition of Norled underscores the importance of collaboration and bold thinking to achieve the maritime sector’s climate goals.
