This year, Norled has further strengthened its sustainability reporting.
We have expanded the scope of information and drawn inspiration from the EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
This provides a more structured and clear presentation of our operations and how we impact people, society, and the environment. At the same time, we are better equipped to set the right priorities going forward, says CEO Marianne Ånestad.
Greater transparency and improved comparability
The enhanced reporting provides both stakeholders and society with a clearer picture of Norled’s operations and value chain. It also makes it easier to compare progress with other players in the industry, while giving the company itself a better foundation for governance.
We continue to cut emissions
Norled continues to reduce its climate footprint, even during a demanding transition phase.
- In 2025, greenhouse gas emissions were reduced by 4 percent from the previous year (Scope 1 and 2)
- Since 2019, emissions have been reduced by approximately 31 percent. In 2025, Norled has also further developed reporting of emissions in the value chain (scope 3), where the data foundation will be further developed and strengthened over time.
An important driver for this is the introduction of new technology. During the year, Norled has, among other things:
- Put several hybrid-electric express boats into operation
- Continued investments in SHIFTR technology for battery swapping
At the same time, the development of new technology has proven more challenging than expected. Testing and further development have led to temporary use of alternative vessels, which has made it difficult to cut emissions during this transition period.
