SHIFTR battery swapping robot being installed in Nesodden

We have started installing the SHIFTR battery swapping robot, which will be used on the fast boats in the Oslofjord, at Nesoddtangen.

The installation and testing of the battery swapping robot will continue throughout the autumn, and battery swapping will also be tested on the vessels.

All departures with fast boats and passenger ferries to and from Nesodden will operate as normal during the installation and testing period.

When operational, the battery swapping robot will ensure slow charging of batteries at the quay and rapid swapping of batteries on the Baroness.

The fast boats will gradually reduce emissions by sailing more on electric battery power and less on diesel.

The work is expected to be completed during the winter.

New electric ferries cut emissions on the Stokkvågen-Lovund-Træna route by up to 90 percent.

Norled won the tender for the Stokkvågen-Lovund and Stokkvågen-Træna ferry routes after delivering a concept that cuts emissions by up to 90 percent. Three new battery-hybrid ferries will enter the service in 2027.
