The contract for the express boat routes between Bodø and Væran, as well as Bodø and Gildeskål has a duration of ten years, starting in January 2024. There is also an option to operate the route between Bodø and Myken during the summer months.
-“We are very pleased that Norled gave us an aggressive, green alternative,” says County Councillor Monika Sande, who says that the environmental factor was weighted heavily in the choice of operator.
70 percent electric
– We look forward to welcoming travelers on our new, electric vessels in 2024. Norled will operate two main vessels and one reserve vessel. The vessels will run on 70 percent electric power. It is very gratifying that Nordland County Council has emphasized the environmental aspect of the contract, so that the connections are now electrified, says CEO of Norled, Heidi Wolden.
Exciting future
County Councillor Sande believes the new service will give passengers completely new travel experiences.
– With electric drive, you will have an even more comfortable experience. But not least, it’s important to point out that this is the start of an electrification of more high-speed vessels. We have exciting times ahead,” Sande emphasizes.
Stable and good offer
The vessels will be spacious, modern and have good passenger comfort to offer the best travel experiences. In addition, the vessels will be universally designed to accommodate 130 passengers, as well as luggage, bicycles and kayaks. The vessels will also have a separate room for passengers traveling with pets.
– “This is our first express boat route in Nordland. We will give travelers and those living on the islands as stable and good a service as possible,” says Heidi Wolden, CEO of Norled.
