Norled, Aarbakke and Seam are in the process of producing a battery-swapping robot for express boats. The robot and the technology will make it possible to electrify express boats while maintaining the current timetable and speed. The first robot will be put into operation in the Oslofjord in 2024.

Express boats in Oslo are being upgraded and made more environmentally friendly
The express boat MS Baronessen has now been converted to battery operation and has also been redesigned. The sister vessel MS Baronen is also being converted. These are important steps in Ruter's and Norled's collaboration to make the express boats ready for battery-electric operation and create a more comfortable journey for passengers.

Norled won the tender for the Stokkvågen-Lovund and Stokkvågen-Træna ferry routes after delivering a concept that cuts emissions by up to 90 percent. Three new battery-hybrid ferries will enter the service in 2027.
