- At Norled, you will be able to pay with AutoPASS ferry cards from January 1, 2019, in addition to today’s existing ferry cards.
- Norled will not start with AutoPASS chip payment until 2020. Norled and our ticket agents cannot answer questions about chip payment and other companies’ connections.
- With an AutoPASS ferry card, you buy a ticket on board in exactly the same way as with today’s existing ferry cards: You buy a ticket (incl. driver) corresponding to the length of the car, as well as a ticket for all passengers.
- Norled’s prices, whether you pay with an AutoPASS ferry card or the old cards, are based on the same pricing rules, see the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s National Regulations for Ferry Fares 2019, with associated price table.
- Please note that all old cards are still valid with Norled in the new year, and that these can be used in exactly the same way as before, for several months to come. See “Transitional arrangements” below here.
- Norled cannot sell or refill the new AutoPASS cards. See information at www.autopassferje.no on how to order your card and how the scheme works.
- Norled does not administer this new scheme and cannot respond on behalf of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT ALL QUESTIONS ARE ASKED TO THE VEGVESENETS SERVICE DESK FOR THE ORDER: autopassferje.no or their tel 55 30 00 00 . - You should consider getting an AutoPASS ferry card in good time before the expiry of the transitional scheme. Travelers are encouraged to use up the residual value in their Norled card. If you want a refund of the residual value in your Norled card (and deposit), it works in the same way as before, by filling out the online form https://dialog.norled.no/avslutte-verdikort and submitting your card, following instructions there.

From the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s general information about the scheme:
The AutoPASS payment scheme for ferries will be introduced from January 1, 2019
Discontinuation of old scheme
Today’s value card can be used until 30.06.2019. However, replenishment of new value in the value card ferry card will be stopped on March 30, 2019. Customers who wish to be refunded the remaining value in the value card before it is used up must contact the ferry company that issued the card.
Today’s bulk user card can be used until 31.03.2019, but it is recommended that companies sign a new AutoPASS ferry agreement in good time.
Introduction of a new payment scheme: AutoPASS for ferry
AutoPASS for ferries will be launched on January 1, 2019 and will replace the current national scheme with value cards and bulk user cards. In the new payment scheme, it will be possible to pay with an AutoPASS ferry card or AutoPASS chip linked to a central AutoPASS ferry account.
AutoPASS ferry cards are used on ferry services with passenger payment and AutoPASS tags where only the vehicle is paid for. See more information at www.autopassferje.no or at the individual ferry company.
Procurement of AutoPASS ferry cards and AutoPASS tags
- AutoPASS ferry cards are assigned and issued in connection with the creation of an AutoPASS ferry account.
- AutoPASS tags are available from a toll company, see www.autopass.no for information.
- Those who already have a chip installed in their car only need to create an additional AutoPASS ferry account.
Creating an AutoPASS ferry account
Signing an agreement, setting up an AutoPASS ferry account and making an advance payment is done via www.autopassferje.no. Private individuals can link two vehicles to an agreement, while companies can link as many vehicles as they need to an agreement.
Via “My page” at www.autopassferje.no, receipts and an overview of travel can be retrieved.
