Starting first of January 2020, you must have an AutoPASS badge to get a discount on travel on these Norled ferry routes:

  • Starting first of January 2020, it is no longer possible to use AutoPASS ferry cards or other ferry cards on the above-mentioned routes. To get a discount, you must pay using your AutoPASS chip.
  • If you don’t have an AutoPASS chip, you must buy a regular ticket on board. You can pay by credit or debit card, and the price will be the ordinary ferry fare without discount.
  • Read more at www.autopassferje.no about where you can order a chip.
  • With an AutoPASS badge without a ferry contract, you get a 10% discount on your ferry ticket
  • If you want an even higher discount, you can create an account at www.autopassferje.no and link your chip to your ferry contract.
  • Read about payment and discount agreements for individuals and businesses at www.autopassferje.no

How do I travel with an AutoPASS badge with Norled?

The following applies to ferry services where AutoPASS tokens are used as a means of payment:

  • Only vehicles are charged, not passengers
  • If you have an AutoPASS badge installed, payment will be made at this, and at a discounted rate.
  • You can pay for a full-price ticket with a debit card (bank card and some credit cards) at the ticket office on board. Drivers of Norwegian-registered cars do not need to contact the ticket agent: an invoice will be sent to the car owner afterwards. The invoice will include a processing fee. To avoid this fee, you can register a FerryPay subscription for your car. The full-price ticket will then be charged to the credit card – free of charge Epass24 works in the same way.
  • No ferry cards (nor the AutoPASS card) can be used for payment

How do I get on board and where do I pay?

  • You drive exactly as before, and in the same way no matter how you want to pay: follow the signs and instructions.
  • On the way to the ferry area, everyone passes under a portal. This is where the length of the car is measured, on this particular day (i.e. with protruding load, extra equipment, trailer…)
  • There is a new portal in connection with boarding the ferry: Payment with a chip is only made when you drive on board, and you get a green light here when the payment is OK. In addition, there is a sign on the side of the lane showing the length class of your vehicle.
  • If you got the green light and agree with the length class, you can now park in the designated space on board and leave the vehicle.
  • Pay attention to the sign showing the length class your car is measured to. If you think this is wrong, contact the ticket agent on board, after departure, and get it sorted straight away. Stay with the vehicle until you have discussed this with the ticket agent.
  • For foreign vehicles: If you do not have a badge (or the badge reading did not give you the green light), contact the on-board ticket agent and buy a ticket: Remain at the vehicle until you have purchased a ticket by credit card.
  • On some quays there are no portals. In that case, you buy a ticket from a ticket agent on board. The ticket vendor has a handheld chip reader, so payment can also be made automatically using the vehicle’s chip. Stay with the vehicle until you have confirmed payment using the chip.
  • Your participation is based on section 7 of the Regulations on transport by ferry, “The traveler is responsible for holding a valid travel document or valid electronic/optical identifiable payment medium.”
