Information about discount cards

In addition to cash and debit/credit cards, there are a number of card products that can be used to pay or check in on trips.

Problem and wrong payment

Wrong payment or charge
Value card activation
First time you use a Norled Value card, you have to activate it on a Norled boat. it is not possible to activate a Norled Value card on boats belonging to a different company.

Remember to write down the card number for future reference if you need to contact Norled regarding the card. All value cards are anonymous.

Refill
Notice also that you cannot refill a Norled card on another transportation company’s ferry

Recharge Value card
You cannot recharge a Norled Value card on another transportation company’s boat. You have to recharge a Norled Value card on a Norled boat
Discount card area of validity
Some of the transportation companies have chosen to opt-out of the ferry card partnership. For example the Norled ferries to Tromsø uses a different ticket system. Therefore you cannot use a normal Norled value card travelling to Tromsø.

This is mostly relevant from Vest-Agder up and including Møre, and Brekstad-Valset in Trøndelag, and Torghatten’s 5 ferry routes in Norland.

Payment history and receipt

Payment history
We do not disclose history on value cards. The authorities have decided that a value card is an anonymous card, and shall be treated as such. Information from a value card would not include value added tax, and is not accepted as information you can use as part of your company accounting. Receipt of card purchase is the only officially accepted information about the card.

  • Remember to keep your receipt. You do not have the opportunity to get a new receipt
  • If want to know the account balance on your valuecard, please ask the ticket collector the next time you use the valuecard
New receipt
If you have lost your receipt, it is not possible to get issued a new receipt from the ticket inspector or from Norled headoffice. If need to know the account balance on your valuecard, please ask the ticket collector the next time you use the valuecard
