Environment and innovation - part of our DNA

Environment and innovation are in our DNA

One of Norled's values is to be dynamic. This means that we will find pioneering and environmentally friendly solutions. We must be far-sighted and capable of change.

Norled has an important social mission related to infrastructure and the transportation of people and goods, and we have always engaged in opportunities and challenges.

When we were founded in the 1850s, the challenge was to link city and country better together, so that everyone could take part in the development. Norled contributed with new types of vessels that provided regularity you could rely on. Today, the challenge is to ensure a well-functioning transport system while drastically reducing emissions. Once again, there is a need for new solutions, and once again we are leading the way. We think about the environment in everything we do - from the design and construction of new vessels, to day-to-day operations with environmentally friendly navigation and wise purchasing.

Sustainability at our suppliers

Norled works with environmentally friendly procurement and wants to reduce unnecessary purchases. The purpose of environmentally friendly procurement is to reduce the burden on employees and the environment.

We work continuously to improve the selection and procurement of goods and services to ensure that they meet the requirements set by the company and the authorities in terms of standardization, environment and quality. We also assess whether the product requirements support Norled's environmental goals. When entering into contracts with suppliers, emphasis is placed on availability, freight, environmental certifications and scope of products and goods.

We regularly carry out an evaluation of our suppliers where these elements are reviewed. Norled also closely monitors statistics for lost-time injuries at our suppliers and enters into a dialog if the development is negative.

Sustainability reporting

We aim to reduce our CO2 emissions by 67% by 2030 by increasing the share of low- and zero-emission vessels in our fleet from 4% in 2019 to 65% by 2030.
