Now they can also announce the names of the four new ferries that will operate between Stokkv\u00e5gen, Lovund and Tr\u00e6na. <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8211; The new vessels will be named MF S\u00f8holmen, MS Risv\u00e6r and MS Kvitv\u00e6r. In addition, MF Sjona will enter the area as a reserve vessel,&#8221; says Drengstig. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Stable and predictable<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The ferries, which are now under construction, will provide increased capacity and a more environmentally friendly travel experience for both residents and travelers in the region. County councillor Marianne Dobak Kvensj\u00f8 is looking forward to starting a new period with brand new ferries. <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8211; The names are taken from local places in the area, in line with Norled&#8217;s tradition of giving its vessels names with local roots. \u201cWe know that the ferries in the connections are often only referred to by the name of the boat that runs,\u201d Kvensj\u00f8 adds. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Hybrid operation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The ferries being built have hybrid operation, which will ensure regularity should there be a loss of power or charging.<\/p>\n\n<p>Norled CEO Rannveig Drengstig is proud to deliver brand new ferries to the Stokkv\u00e5gen, Lovund and Tr\u00e6na route.Norled<\/p>\n\n<p>The three main ferries are all hybrid-electric and will mainly be powered by electricity. There will be shore power charging at the quays in Stokkv\u00e5gen, Lovund and Tr\u00e6na. But the ferries are also equipped with diesel generators as back-up, which ensures high regularity even in the event of a power outage,&#8221; explains CEO Drengstig.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>60 cars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The vessels all have capacity for 60 cars, and offer 60 cm clearance on each side of the cars, double the current requirement.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8211; It will provide a safer and more comfortable boarding and departure experience,&#8221; says County Councillor Kvensj\u00f8, who is looking forward to testing the new ferries on the route.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Starts February 1, 2027 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The vessels will be delivered continuously from late summer 2026 until year-end 2026\/2027.
