We look forward to working with Norled to put new and environmentally friendly ferries in place,&#8221; says Marianne Dobak Kvensj\u00f8, county councillor for transport. <\/p>\n\n<p>The new ferries are designed specifically for the link and to give passengers and crew a good travel experience as they sail virtually silently across the ocean<\/p>\n\n<p>-&#8220;We look forward to further cooperation with Nordland County Council. And we greatly appreciate that they promoted emission-free solutions in their tender. Norled has long and good experience with electric ferries and we look forward to sailing electrically in Nordland as well,&#8221; says Heidi Wolden, CEO of Norled.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Three electric sister ships<\/h3>\n\n<p>The three newbuildings that will enter the connection will all have capacity for 60 cars and 250 passengers including crew. Drette ensures good capacity on the connections. <\/p>\n\n<p>The battery capacity for each of the ferries is approximately 8,000 kWh, making them the ferries with the largest battery capacity in Norway.  <\/p>\n\n<p>-Norled has an ambitious sustainability strategy with a clear goal of reducing emissions in our ferry and express boat fleet by 2040. This means that we are focusing on low- and zero-emission vessels. The Stokkv\u00e5gen-Lovund-Tr\u00e6na tender was therefore a tender we are very pleased to win,&#8221; explains Heidi Wolden.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Havyard to build the ferries<\/h3>\n\n<p>Norled has signed a letter of intent with the Havyard shipyard for the construction of three of the battery vessels and also has an option for a fourth vessel. LMG Marine has designed the boats, which will be identical. <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8220;It&#8217;s great to be able to announce this news to our employees just before Christmas. The agreement gives us an excellent start for our focus on new construction. In addition, it will give us a long-term perspective that is very important.
