As an adult, I am fortunate to be able to be at sea every day with good colleagues and travelers you bond with. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After completing my secondary education and a safety course, I started working as a restaurant employee on board the ferry MF &#8220;Rennes\u00f8y&#8221; when I was 19 years old. After a few months, I joined the express boat MS &#8220;Fjordsol&#8221; as a ticket inspector. Then I continued as a light seaman on MS &#8220;Fjordrott&#8221;. That&#8217;s when I realized that this was the job for me. Before that, he had completed an upper secondary education in mechanical engineering and spent two years on the training ship S\u00f8rlandet. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although he works permanently on the Lavik-Oppedal connection, he has also worked on other ferries for shorter periods in Sogn, Northern Norway and outside Bergen.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-&#8220;A ferry engineer is often a generalist &#8211; you know a bit of everything and you come across different situations that you have to solve there and then. What&#8217;s great about Norled is that you can decide for yourself what you want to specialize in. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here it is possible to do some of the maintenance yourself if you feel comfortable with it, at least after you have seen how a specialist has done it before. It&#8217;s up to you how much you want to get good at,&#8221; says Jogeir. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He appreciates a job where he&#8217;s not far away from his family for long periods of time and thinks it&#8217;s a good environment at Norled.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; I think there are a lot of good people at Norled. I got a permanent position as master on MS Westcruise on the Hommers\u00e5k route in 2009. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ryfylker routes lured me back, so I worked as a driver on board MS Fjorddrott until 2021. Then I had the opportunity to start on the world&#8217;s first hydrogen-powered ferry MF Hydra and it has been an interesting time and a promising workplace. From the new year, you will find me as master on board MF Nesvik, also on the J\u00f8senfjord in Rogaland!
